Camp ended like what, three days ago and i'm already camp-sick. I need to get up to Copake way sooner than next June. Other than that, have a good year everyone and see you in January or sooner!

Gold Award Announcement [14 Jun 2004|03:10pm]

mentallydrangd
Hey people! My name's Michelle Katz, and I am a Girl Scout in NY, and I need your help~! I'm doing my Gold Award project (a massive 50-hour ordeal), and it's called the Book-a-thon and it's really awesome. If you have any unwanted children's books (or really any books that people up to 18 might read), or you have unwanted blank cassette tapes or tape recorders that you would like to donate to the cause (basically it's a book drive for the less affluent in a fairly local area, but I would love for the program to spread!), you can contact me at bookathon101@hotmail.com or leave a comment here. If you would like to spread it to your area and/or would like to help organize and run partial drives in your area, that would also be a big help! If you're interested, it's a great community service opportunity and a lot of fun!
Thanks,
~Michelle

It's amazing. The people, the activities, the camp-like feel (minus of course "Jammin with Joe", though there are other ppl to jam with now). I miss you guys a lot sometimes, and I'd love to see y'all again sometime soon. Come to NFTY. It's worth every second.

Hi folks, Sara here, I'm an old time BHECer too.  I was there '94 to '98.  I've seen pictures at the website from more recent summers, and camp sure has changed.  Wow Caryn and Jen, you've brought back some funny memories!

Ive decided to come on to the community and preach usy to you all. this doesnt really relate to camp, but it is the most amazing thing next to it. yes, you have to pray, but its soooo worth it. its amazing. it was basically formed to hookup, so im sure most of you wouldnt mind. hehe. im just kidding. anyways, yeah kind of a pointless entry, but yeah usy is amazing and you all should join!!! haha.

much lovin'

I figure we need to get this community rolling* [29 Feb 2004|09:36pm]

everydaypickle
So, I thought that this community needed to be updated again, so why not by moi? Um yeah... missing camp a lot. The 8 had a reunion last week, which was totally stellar. Hmmm... not much to say. Oh! Alright, for those of you who don't read the message board, Evan Rosler wrote a totally awesome poem about camp and I think I'll post it, so here it is...

Imagine a world where the sun always shines
and the good times never do end
When you can look left and look to the right
and still see nothing but friends
Imagine a place that's removed from the world
from its terrors, its nightmares, its pain
A place where you wear the same shorts for two months
and nobody thinks you're insane
Imagine a home that's not your real home
but it feels like it is nonetheless
A home with no worries, no troublesome times
A home that's free of distress
We all know of this land up in Copake, New York
Berkshire Hills, a most magical place
And we wish that the love that we feel for another
were shared by the whole human race
But tragically, in times like these
we're reminded that can never be
So for an escape, though a very short one
close your eyes and imagine me
Because my eyes have been closed since September 11th
and I've been thinking of camp memories
knowing you love me and that I love you
Berkshire Hills, you're my family

It is one amazing poem...

[ mood | tired ]

I'm in the middle of finishing a Thesis paper that's due, today actually. And I felt a strong desire to be laying on a thin, striped mattress, on a bed frame with planks missing. Unfortunately, the only place I can achieve this amazing feeling is at BHEC. Don't worry, it's only 140 days. Wishing all you Jew kids out there a nice Tubishvaat, or however you spell it. Take your time to hug a tree.
